Sustainability is one of ATC’s core values.
We are committed to sustainable environmental, economic, and social practices. We embrace innovations, communicate proactively, and adopt new environmentally friendly technologies to ensure we positively impact our industry, our clients and the world around us.
While as a company, we still have more work to do, we are honoured to have been acknowledged for our efforts in the EU Commission’s Report regarding the CSR uptake by European SME’s and start-ups. Under their criteria, ATC has achieved in a number of areas:
- Decent Work,
- Consumer Issues,
- Environment, and
- Responsible Business Relations
Decent Work
ATC is the European logistics, white glove and technical services specialist for data centres. Our focus is on anticipating the critical needs of our clients and delivering industry-leading standards for safety, security and reliability.
To meet these requirements, we are continually researching and investing in the most advanced equipment and technologies to undertake our work.
We also arrange regular training for our team from external industry bodies to ensure we are up to date with all road safety regulations that impact Europe. Nothing is left to chance. Everything we do is within the strictest tolerances, with no room for error, of which we are extremely proud.
Recently, ATC was ranked in the 98th percentile in our Risk Prevention rating by the Road Safety Authority of Ireland. This ranking means that ATC’s risk of having an incident on the road is 98% lower than other companies within the same industry based on regular vehicle maintenance, fleet management, and the ATC team.
When our clients’ assets reach the end of life, we also manage the secure removal and disposal of media and equipment, destroying the physical data storage devices in an environmentally friendly manner following WEEE (Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment) disposal guidelines.
Consumer Issues
Our team brings a high level of care and dedication to our customers, we always go the extra mile to exceed their expectations with our turnaround times, careful planning and open communication channels. It’s vital to us that we not only meet their needs but that they have trust in us and our abilities.
A crucial area for clients in this industry is to have the ability to keep a certain level of control over the movement of their assets from point A to point B. Due to the highly specialised nature of our deliveries, we ensure that every trip is monitored throughout using fleet management software. For our clients, this means that they can receive real-time information on the status of their assets in transit, giving them comfort and further minimising risks associated with deliveries of this nature.
The privacy of our customers is of the utmost importance to us, and all client relationship are protected by Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
Environmental:
We are committed to ensuring we meet environmental standards and have set an ambitious target to be carbon neutral by 2030. To help us achieve this objective, we regularly consult with our clients to see how they are adopting green strategies and policies into their businesses so that we can follow their example. Our actions have been recognised by the FTAI “Green” Gold TruckSafe award.
ATC Piloting HVO Fuel in Trucks:
As this blog goes live, we are currently preparing to trial HVO in selected vehicles. HVO fuel (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is an advanced renewable diesel fuel (green diesel) derived from 100% renewable waste streams and passed through hydrotreatment and isomerisation.
HVO has been approved by a large portion of the worlds Original Equipment Manufacturers with supporters saying that switching to HVO can cut carbon emissions by up to 90%.
Through our base in Dublin, ATC are now trialling this alternative fuel and we’re particularly keen to measure the outcomes.
We look forward to sharing more about our experience with HVO through the year.
Responsible Business Relations
In ATC, we are very aware of the gender imbalance of our industry, with women only making 22% of the transportation workers within Europe. A long term goal of ours is to generate a greater gender balance among employees. We are already showing evidence of this shift with the number of non-male employees in the company steadily increasing over the past 6 years.
It is my opinion that the greater balance within a company brings positive change, better performance, innovation, and, eventually, higher profit. Motivating more women to become drivers would also benefit the industry in general, which is currently experiencing driver shortages.
It is also imperative that all our teams receive equal pay for equal work regardless of gender. ATC is, and will remain, fully compliant and committed to this principle.
As mentioned at the beginning of this article, we still have more to do. We have to contend with several key barriers as an industry, including lack of options for alternative fuels, lack of gas fuelling stations located in Europe, and lack of secure stops. In addition, while we invest in the latest vehicles on the market to further reduce our carbon footprint, a manufacturing delay is slowing down this progress.
We are however confident that we will find solutions to these challenges with industry-wide commitment.
